Do Rad Things is an educational model developed by artist Mark Rivard. With over 15 years of development rooted by an authentic career as an artist, Rivard has tapped into a language of student engagement that honors the true spirit of Youth & Pop Culture. As a professional artist for over 20 years with countless exhibitions, endorsements, and professional projects under his belt, Mark Rivard found himself standing in front of audiences all over the globe. The former face of Sharpie Markers, Rivard turned his personal journey and his "15 Minutes" into an elaborate and engaging platform now known as Do Rad Things. Rivard's personal story and unique approach to curriculum & art, harnesses the attention of students in classrooms worldwide.

A Skateboard Art project is more than just a unique canvas. Skateboarder or not, students all understand the cultural value that comes with designing their own skateboard deck. The iconic canvas of a skate deck, is a recognizable source of pride in our youth.

Slightly Antiquated, students still understand the value of your “15 Minutes”. In the era of ‘Going Viral’, this serves as a positive example of professional endorsement.

In relation to Act 1, build context to the WHY? Lean into Rivard's story! Real world context in Art Education in invaluable!

Tie it all together with the full circle story. A student documentary from Rivard's Alma Mater high School.

stART - The 3 Acts of Skateboard Art

is the the foundational philosophy of a Do Rad Things Skateboard Art project. Art class is not just THE ART, it's also the job of being an artist. From the idea, creating the idea, to the marketing & promotion of our art, this is how we bring all aspects of a professional project to life.

Act 1: We need to answer the "Why?".

In Act 1, we find our inspiration. Use Code: EDUCATOR to access a number of creative resources in the Educator Portal to kick off your Skateboard Art project. Virtual Gallery, online Documentaries that tell the story of Rivard's career, curated Youtube Playlists of artists features, all designed to inspire your students and projects.

Act 2: Let's dig in.

Once we've created the "Why?", it's time to start drawing and painting your skateboard. This is the real art portion, the execution of the ideas. Do Rad Things skateboards are priced to accommodate group projects. We use the best skateboard decks on the planet!

Act 3: PROMOTE IT!

Encouraging students to use their Social Media's for positive self promotion, and encouraging project leaders and teachers to find ways of exhibiting and publicly highlighting their students. Act 3 is the "Hustle", and we often find the most rewarding for many students. Get out those cameras, shoot the finished boards, and put those phones, and Snapchats to use in a positive way. Tag us to be featured, @DoRadThingsCo!
